FAQ

How do I register?

If you are a student or graduate:

Click on the button "student & graduate register." This appears above the input boxes for logging in - on the front page, in the center, and on every other page (when you are not already logged in), in the right column. After filling in the requested information, you will receive an e-mail with further instructions, and will be able to post your profile as soon as you have received this e-mail.

If you are a business:

Click on the button "company register." This appears above the input boxes for logging in - on the front page, in the center, and on every other page (when you are not already logged in), in the right column. After filling in the requested information, you will receive an e-mail with further instructions. Your account will first have to be approved by an administrator before you are able to create or modify your profile.

Do I need to be a student or graduate of Oxford or Cambridge to register as a student/graduate user?

Yes. At the moment, only students and graduates of Oxford or Cambridge are invited to post their profiles.

Am I required to fill in all the information requested, or can I just fill in some of it?

Only your name, and if you are a business, your business name, are required. However, your profile is not likely to show up in searches if you only fill in this information. Your profile will also be more interesting to other parties if you fill it in completely. The most successful BeyondOxbridge users are those with profiles which are well-thought out and complete.

What happens with the information I provide about myself or my company on BeyondOxbridge?

How do I use the Private Messages function?

When you are logged in, you can send private messages to users, both student & graduate users and recruiters, by clicking on the button "send ... (name) ... a private message," if you see this button (it is located under their profile photo or logo if they have one - otherwise it is in the top-right area of the profile). If this button is not visible, it means that the user does not wish to receive private messages.

You can access your own private messages by clicking on the "my inbox" link which appears at the top of each page when you are logged in.

Private messages are sent using a user's user name, which may be different from his or her first and last names, or company name. Users are encouraged to use their real names or company names when registering, to avoid confusion - however, some may not do so, and it is possible, for example, that a second or third John Smith registering must use the user name John Smith2 or john_smith
